We currently have less than 15 percent of Ohio licensed acupuncturists as members of OAAOM. This seriously limits our ability to work on issues important to our profession both locally and nationally. Chiropractors and Physical Therapists have much higher participation percentages with bigger budgets and political impact.
We sponsor media campaigns intended to educate and expand public awareness of the benefits of acupuncture and oriental medicine. We communicate our message via radio, press, television and social media.
Your voice matters! Through the work of OAA, herbal therapy was added as a part of our scope of practice in Ohio for Oriental Medicine Practitioners, and Ohio Medicaid added acupuncture as a covered benefit – one of the first in the nation. We continue to monitor legislative issues related to acupuncture in Ohio and the nation.

You are also automatically included as a member of Acupuncture Society of America (ASA), the nation’s most comprehensive acupuncture society.
