Saturday April 21 9:00 am – 5:30 pm (Lunch:1-2pm) Course description:
This class will introduce the techniques of neuromuscular skeletal exams and the recording of findings. Exams of the musculoskeletal system will include inspection for joint symmetry, alignment, bony deformities, and palpation of surrounding tissues for skin changes, nodules, and muscular atrophy. It will cover range of motion and maneuvers to test joint function and stability as well as evaluation of ligaments, tendons, bursae, and assessment of inflammation, or arthritis with swelling, warmth, tenderness, or redness. The exams of the nervous system will focus on the cranial nerves, motor system, sensory system, and reflexes. Included are cranial nerves I through XII, motor system: muscle bulk, tone, and strength, coordination, gait, and stance; sensory system: pain and temperature, position and vibration, light touch, discrimination; deep tendon, abdominal, and plantar reflexes. Upon completion of this class, the students are expected to master the most commonly used techniques and know how to use these techniques to help their clinical work. Teaching method: lecture and hands on work Dr. Manos is Board Certified in Sports Medicine, Family and Holistic Medicine. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Medicine. She is a Reiki Master and an Associate Polarity Practitioner. Currently she teaches Neuromuscular Anatomy and Physiology for the Adjudicator Training Classes for Social Security Disability-Rehabilitation Services Commission, while also providing consultation on disability cases. Dr. Manos brings with her varied and long history in sports, medicine, and the healing arts. She is an outstanding holistic teacher and integrative medical practitioner.

Sunday April 22 9:00 am – 5:30 pm (Lunch:1-2pm) Course description:
This class will introduce the neurophysiological effects and clinical significance of electroacupuncture parameters. How electroacupuncture works from the observation of experimental and clinical trials will be discussed. The course will focus on the following: the principles of point selection and combination, the indications, contraindications, and handling of commonly seen applications in clinical practice.
Clinical Application of ElectroAcupuncture (7.5 hours)
Dr. Yunpeng Luo, MD (China), Faculty at Oregon College of Oriental Medicine
Teaching method: lecture and demo
Dr. Luo has studied Chinese medicine since 1978 and received his Master of Medicine degree from Shaanxi College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1986 with advanced training in T.C.M classics. He then served as associate professor and physician at the Henan College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He has been teaching and practicing in U.S including the New York College of Chinese medicine and the International Institute of Chinese medicine since 1997. Currently, he is a member of the faculty at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine where he teaches both Doctoral and Masters degree programs. He maintains a private practice in Portland, Oregon.
